Tawreeq Holdings, a pioneer in Sharia-compliant supply chain finance solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lim Say Cheong as the Executive Vice President – Group Head for Special Projects and Ventures.

The appointment marks a significant milestone for Tawreeq as we continue to expand our business through new projects and ventures across the region. “Lim’s extensive experience in identifying new growth areas and critical business drivers for expansion into multiple markets and industries provide first-hand insight and knowledge of corporate requirements in line with our group’s mission. We believe Lim’s addition to our executive management team will further enhance and strengthen Tawreeq’s vision to expand regional trade and facilitate growth and employment,” commented Haitham Al Refaie, Group CEO, Tawreeq Holdings.

Lim brings with him a tremendous wealth of experience, expertise and strategy execution proficiency to develop, launch and build new business lines in the international markets as proven by the successful development and achievements of the Debt Capital Markets, Structured Finance and Asset Management businesses with his previous employers.  

Prior to joining Tawreeq, Lim served as the EVP, Head of Islamic Banking – Singapore and Middle East, at Maybank Islamic Bank, where he conceptualized and developed the business strategy to grow the Islamic banking global portfolio.  Lim has over two decades of extensive business and banking experience encompassing conventional and Islamic finance, as well as risk management in the international and multi-cultural environment. He has held senior executive roles and has successfully led the progressive advancement of business lines in well-known banks such as Al Hilal Bank, Noor Islamic Bank, EON Bank and Bank of America. 

Lim graduated from Australia with a double major in Mathematics and Economics, received the Global Executive MBA from INSEAD France and holds the Diploma in Islamic Finance from CIMA (UK). He has also attended the Wharton Leadership Program from University of Pennsylvania.
